Road work
I still have a little more work to do on the old dirt road to get ready for the next rain storm which is coming in soon. During the last rain storms, about six springs popped out along the road for about a hundred yards or so which made the road a muddy mess as there were no ditches in the road to take away the water and to keep it from running down the road.
I stopped here on the way up with my side by side to check things out and to see what I needed to do today to fix this problem.
Goat Lady
While I was there, the Goat lady came by in her truck so we shot the bull for a bit. She was on her way to get some more feed for her goats. I think she has about two hundred goats.
I continued on up the hill to where my equipment was parked and warmed up Skiddy and got to work on the road, mostly hauling rock to put on the muddy part of the road.
I put some rock on this part of the road. It will need a bit more rock to get it just right.
I also cut another ditch across the road in the worst spring that popped up so it would cross the road. That took quite awhile to get the ditch just right.
I worked all day on that and quit around four to head on home.
Shovel work
But on the way home, I stopped here to help the water get across the road in this spot with my shovel. I’ll put more rock on this part of the road tomorrow which should fix it up nicely and be ready for the next rain.
This crossing isn’t so much a ditch as it is just sloped so the water runs across the road and off it when it rains a lot.
I headed on home from there and got there just before dark.
