Road work
I got a late start on the old road today, around 3 I headed on up the hill through the state park. I noticed they have the park’s kiosk back in operation.
Since I had the six way blade on Skiddy, I went on down the old road and did the water crossings on the road a second time as to adjust them better than I had them. The six way blade is much more adjustable than the bucket for making complex cuts with it.
We haven’t had any rain for a few weeks, so the wet ground is starting to dry out making it workable and not just a big muddy mess.
That took about an hour or so, then I drove back to the top where I store Skiddy and changed the six way blade for the bucket. The bucket is better for hauling dirt and rock and doing some real digging.
I’m removing the six way blade. It has a couple of quick disconnect hydraulic hoses and some push a button locks, so it’s fairly easy and quick to make the change. I put the bucket on the right onto the skidder.
Hand work
I had a build up of mud in the bucket so I had to remove it so it will haul the most rock.
Road work with the bucket
I took the bucket down with a load of rock for one of the water crossings and then did some work on a hair pin turn that needed some work so a fire truck could get around the turn.
It was getting late, about eight, so I drove on up to the parking area and fueled up Skiddy.
Checking it out
I drove the side by side down this road to the old road to check out what I did today.
This is the hair pin turn I graded earlier in the day.
I worked on the water ditch that goes down the left side of the road. Since it’s a tight turn, the ditch on the left is made so a big truck can drive in the ditch to get around the turn.
I checked a couple of other spots I’d worked on and then continued on down through the big trees in the state park.
It’s nice late in the day like this as the park is mostly empty.
New kiosk
I stopped to get a picture of the newly rebuilt kiosk. It’s ready to use or almost ready to use to collect fees for using the park.
When I got home, I found a bunch of deer in the yard where they are not supposed to be so I chased them out of the yard. Of course they plowed through two fences to get out, so I’ll have to repair those soon.
Nice day.
