Smoking fish
I had a few pieces of salmon to test the system out today. I thought I’d only try a few pieces to test the system out so if things didn’t work out too good, I’d have another chance with the rest of the salmon.
I got the firebox fire going around one.![]()
It didn’t take long to get smoke going.![]()
The fish is starting to show some color from the smoke.![]()
It’s almost done here, just need to get it up to around 145 F. They didn’t all reach that temperature at the same time so I took the ones out as they reached that temp.![]()
It took me longer to get them up to 145 F. than I thought. I think I just need the fire to be a bit hotter sooner.
Here’s the finished product which I will sample later, or tomorrow after they cool down.![]()
Well, I didn’t wait very long and tried it and it’s good.

Your salmon looks delicious. It’s been many years since we did smoked salmon.
It’s been many years since I did it too. Well worth it and really not that hard to do, once you get some salmon. :O)
