Nice day to get out on the water
It was overcast but the wind was down to only a breeze as I put my boat in the water at Jenner this morning. I headed across the river and on up at a very slow pace, taking my time. Some ducks up ahead.
I passed by these male mallard ducks feeding in the water.
And this female mallard with her young that she is protecting and watching out for.
Just past the mallard ducks I went by these merganser ducks resting on this old redwood stump. That’s a male on the right.
I stopped and sat in this spot for a bit.
And this spot working my way up the river about a mile.
I was headed up to a place I call Muskrat, just a ways up ahead.
I paddled on by this rock just a little ways further.
Taking it easy at Muskrat
I made it to Muskrat and turned around and sat for a half hour or so watching things.
From Muskrat, I crossed over the river here and paddled down that side looking for wild life.
I went by this gravel beach which usually has a lot of birds on it, but not today.
Only this male merganser duck was there today.
Heading in to the boat ramp
I continued on down that side of the river and headed on in for the day going by here. The boat ramp is just up ahead on the right.
I pulled my boat out and tied it to the top of the car and went on home for the day.
Working on the mower project
After a nap, I went out and started working on the weed mower project.
I was able to get the new spindle mounted securely.
‘Then I worked on figuring out how to lift the engine up about an inch and started construction on a bracket that will lift the engine and allow the engine to be adjusted for belt tension.
It’s coming together
This is the way it should look once I finish installing the new adjusting bracket which I’m still working on.
I got a good start on that project and it looks like it will all work out. No deer in the yard today, so maybe I got it fixed.
And that was my day.
Great day for a kayak ride. If I could slow Bill down enough to use ours more, I would!
