Forest road work
I needed to go up and check on the park road I’ve been working on getting rocked as lots of rain is supposed to come late tonight and last about a week or so.
Shoveling
The tool of choice today was the shovel. I needed to check the ditches that let water get across the roads to make sure they were flowing properly and not letting water run down the roads. It just takes a little shovel work to make sure the ditches are cleared and running properly. I did this one.
And then I worked on this one a bit.
And then this one. None of them were very bad. I will check them often during the rains that are coming in.
The road is looking fairly good, even the parts that don’t have rock on them yet. The dense fog is back again today, but will be replaced by rain soon.
Fueling Skiddy
Once I had the road checked out, I drove over to where my equipment was parked and fueled up Skiddy so It would be ready to go if it was needed to do any repairs from the rains coming in.
Bulldozer Starter problem
Then I had a look at the dozer’s starter as it’s not turning over very well to start the dozer up when I might need it.
It’s pretty dirty down there where the starter is. I think I might have to remove the starter to check it out, but I need a flashlight to see the bolts to hold it on so I know what wrenches to bring up to remove it. I’ll have to come back with a flashlight.
I headed for home down through the park since I got done what I needed to do up there.
I stopped here to check the road out on the way which looked good in this area.
Slide
And I stopped to check out this recent slide. It’s a smaller one that we can drive on by.
Since we can drive on by it for now, I decided to leave it as cleaning it up would make a big mess in that spot. So unless it slides more, I will leave it for now.
And I stopped and looked at the big rock slide. It’s mostly stopped sliding for now, but it sure looks like it will slide again, looking at the top of it.
I drove on down through the park to my house which is at the front of the park entrance.
Once home, I had a look at the creek that goes by my house. With the rains, it will rise a lot. It looks good to go. Let it rain.
Nice day.
