Forest road work
With no rain today, I went up to this spot to look at it as I wanted to do some work on it with Skiddy.
The ditch on the left needs to be deepened a little so all the water from this intersection flows toward this way. It looks like it is, but it’s just barely going the other way which I don’t want.
Skiddy
I rode up to where Skiddy was and warmed it up a bit and headed on over and fixed that ditch in the intersection. When it next rains, it will tell me whether I got it right or not. Sometimes these hills can deceive you as to which way the water will flow. That’s why it’s a good idea to be out on dirt roads when it is raining. The harder the better.
Rocking
After fixing that intersection, I hauled some rock on the old dirt road I’ve been working on for most of the rest of the day. I repaired one of the water crossings with rock smoothing it out a bit, and then put rock on places that had gotten muddy from the rain. Rock can really improve a road, especially for one like this one in the steep hills that has lots of water popping out everywhere on the hillside when it rains enough.
Headed for home
I headed for home when the sun started to go down, but took the long way. This is what the forest looks like in this area, looking down off a road.
I headed on down this road as I was thinking a drink of water would be nice.
So I stopped here for a drink of water.
Drink of spring water
There’s a spring with a drink of water at the white pipe.
What’s a drink of spring water worth
I got a drink of water here. This spring was worth tapping. The drink of spring water was priceless. :O)
I got back in my rig and headed towards home again.
Down this road I went, stopping once in awhile to throw sticks and rocks off the road.
This is one of the places I stopped to throw some sticks off the road.
And I stopped to lock up the gate on the main road to the park.
Nice day.
