Forest road work
We should get some more rain in a couple of days, so I headed up through the state park to move a little more rock to the old dirt road.
I hauled rock down the road to the left which goes down into the state park.
And I got some rock from this slide on the road and moved it to another place on the road that needed some fill.
I dumped most of the rock on this steep part and spread it out.
I put some more rock on this steep part too. I’m trying to build up the road on the left so it slopes to the right so more water will drain off this road.
I quit around four and rode up to my cousin’s place. I wanted to take Skiddy home today and needed a ride back up the hill. I left my side by side at her place and walked down to where Skiddy was parked and asked her to leave for my house in an hour so I could take her back up to her house. She’s learning to drive the side by side so I let her drive me back up to her place.
I drove Skiddy down through our place and did a bit of work on some small slides on the way. I was clearing a small slide off the road when Skiddy sunk on a soft spot and I slid up against a small redwood tree and got a bit stuck, almost falling off the road. I thought I’d need to get the bull dozer, but was able to back up just a little, carefully, and got back up onto the road.
I made it back to my place.
My cousin showed up with the side by side and I let her drive me back up to her place.
I left from her place and drove back down the old dirt road to make sure some of the water crossings where working properly after some cars had driven on the road. I fixed two of them up with a shovel.
Grader
Then I headed towards home but stopped in the state park to look at their grader.
I’m not allowed to run the parks equipment but I volunteered to show one of the park guys how to run it as I ran one on a big ranch, long ago. It would be nice to have this grader to work on the road. Maybe I can steel it from them later when the road dries out. :O) It’s too wet to use a grader on the old dirt road.
Avocado tree
I made it home and let the chickens into the front yard. Then I looked for my fence post driver and finally found it, right where I had left it. I pounded the two metal stakes in the ground and tied this little avocado tree up as the wind has been blowing it around and i was afraid it might get broken off.
Nice day.
