Lots of rain today
I could hear the rains pouring down early this morning as I lay in bed thinking about getting up to go check out the old dirt road I’ve been working on , expecting the worst as along with the rains the wind was blowing too.
Roof
When I went outside, I noticed a big piece of my metal roof was on the ground. The wind had done some damage over my car port, which wasn’t really too bad. I’ll get that all screwed back down after this storm calms down.
With the high winds, I put the chainsaw in my side by side, just in case and headed on up through the state park to check on the old dirt road.
Surprised
I was expecting some damage, but to my surprise, I made it all the way to the top without getting my shovel out or my chainsaw. Things were looking better than expected.
I drove over to my cousin’s place on top of the hill and gave them a report and warmed up a bit.
Since I had nothing to repair, I headed back down the hill.
I did stop here to do a bit of shovel work, just because I could, not that it really needed it.
I wanted to slow down that water going down the road on the left in a tire rut. It really wasn’t too bad. The water on the right is running off the road as it should so was ok.
I moved a couple shovel fulls of dirt so the water would go across the road and off it which only took a minute.
Park guys
Since I had all this extra time now, I rode on over to the state parks shop and shot the bull with the guys in there for awhile. They were working on sharpening up all their chainsaws and tools so they’d be ready to go once the rains stopped.
I headed on home from there and found these tree trimmers on the road outside my place. It seems they were trimming some trees out of the way that might fall onto the nearby power lines.
It continued to rain for the rest of the day, pretty heavy at times.
That meant I’d spend the rest of the day in the house, taking it easy.
Nice rainy day.
