Traveling home
I started my trek home on Sunday as I was up around six thousand feet and it turned cold after a rain.
I wanted to make it about half way home to a camp spot near the Bullard’s Bar Reservoir on Sunday which I did. It was at a lower altitude so was around sixty degrees F. that night which was much nicer than up higher in the forest.
On Monday, I got on the road for the last part of the trek home which took most of the day.
Game Refuge
I take a short cut through this game refuge as it’s a good spot to stop for a break and something to eat.
I stopped in this spot for a good break.
I made it home around four and started to unload some of the stuff in the van, but not much as I was pretty beat.
Overall that was a nice trip. Going on trips always makes me realize just how good I have it at home. :O)
Today
Barry drove in ,in his truck this morning around noon, so we went for a dirt bike ride up in the forest which I was ready for.
We were riding up this trail when we ran into a downed tree across the road. With no chainsaw, we couldn’t get through it, so we backed off to this spot and cleared some debris out of the road, so we could make the turn easier the next time we took this trail.
We stopped on this trail to clear some more stuff off the road so we can zip up it faster without getting hit in the face by limbs hanging over the road.
Here’s Barry trimming some brush off the road.
There’s always stuff to trim off the roads as things grow fast in a forest. A clear trail is more fun to ride on, especially if things are hitting you in the face.
Break spot at the top
With all that trail work we made it to the top of the ridge where we take a break and get all rested up to do some more riding and trail work.
Steep stuff?
Barry is saying, you want to go over there to the steep one and I say, No steep ones today, I want to take it easy on my sore back. It is getting better, but slowly, and I don’t want to mess it up as I have more plumbing to do on our rental unit that needs to get done.
So we rode around some more staying off the real steep stuff and stopped here for a bit at the Guerneville overlook.
We were getting close to home when we crossed a small creek crossing. Barry’s bike kicked out a small five inch diameter log that I ran into with my front tire that stopped me as I wasn’t going very fast. I had to maneuver over it and then I got a branch caught in the front tire which I had to stop to get it out. In the process, Barry took off and I didn’t know which way he went, so I ended up at home before he did.
He’s just catching up with me, which was no matter, as I was just sitting there in my chair waiting for him.
He took off for home and I went in for a nap. I mostly took it easy for the rest of the day and did some more unloading of the van.
And I spent some time chair hopping around the yard with the chickens, just relaxing and enjoying being home.
Nice day.
I agree. It’s nice to be in a familiar place where you can relax and not think about which road you have to take next. I think the chickens missed you! LOL
I think Barry missed you. Riding’s more fun with (br)others.
Glad you’re home safe & sound.
No matter how wonder to travel, there’s no place like home.
