Dry spell

It appears that we are going into a no-rain spell for  a number of days, so that means we need to do some planning to put some rock on the road in the park.

I rode up into the park and found the park guys I needed to talk with to make some plans to get the rock job done.

We rode on up to the road where we need to work and studied the job to make sure we could do it.

The park guys need to juggle some work around to get the time to help me out, so they are checking on that.

The only real problem they said they had was getting the dump truck by the rock slide area, so I left them and headed up to where Skiddy was parked and warmed it up for action, or to remove the rock slide.

I almost had the rock slide cleaned up when this car came by. I smoothed things out so it could pass. Now the dump truck can get by.

The next thing I had to do was move the bulldozer up the hill where it will be needed, so I warmed it up. I left Skiddy there and will walk back to get it to take it back up the hill.

I made my way up the hill with the dozer.

Then I made the walk back down the hill to get Skiddy.

Skiddy can move much faster than the bulldozer as I moved it up the road to the top.

I had to walk about a quarter mile back to where Hondo was parked and I headed for home, just before dark.

Now I’m all set up to do some work if the park guys can get the time to work with me.

Trail work

I didn’t have anything planned for the day, so I decided to get a shovel up to the trail I need to work on. I rode on up to this overlook where the trail starts and parked.

The sky was a bit on the cloudy side like we might get some rain showers, but it never did rain.

I’m taking the shovel out this trail to the place I want to work on the trail.

I got  the shovel to the work area. I need to get the trail dug out to get under this big fir tree log that fell down recently.

At my age, the chair is one of the most important trail tools. I use it a lot. Sit, work, sit, work.

I dug away and sat a lot.

A few hours later, and the work was done.

That should do it for now.

I headed back up the trail, leaving the tools and chair there to do some more work at a later time.

I’m going to have to bring the chainsaw in to cut this small tree off the trail.

I made it back to the trail head and realized it was past five already.

The sun was going down to the west.

It got dark on me before I got home which was ok as the rig has head lights.
