Headed up to work
Today, I had some work to do for a neighbor, so I headed on up through the state park to his place. The Park guys got the new gate installed but no lock on it yet. I think this one will be easier than the old gate to open and close.
Goat Lady
I ran into another neighbor, the goat lady taking her goats out to graze along the roads. She’s hustling past me to keep her goats moving so I don’t hung them up. The rock in the bucket is for her to fix a big hole in her road. As long as I was going down that way, I thought I’d take her a load of rock for that hole.
Big rotten stump
I got the load of rock dumped then went over to the other neighbors to remove this big rotten stump off the road. One of the reasons I help my neighbors with their roads is for fire protection. When fire trucks can get around neighbor’s roads, it means the fire guys have a good chance to stop a fire before it gets on our place and into the state park. And most of my neighbors can’t afford to hire this kind of work out with how much this kind of work costs these days.
I almost have that big stump dug out. It’s hard to get them to break free, so I dig on them until they are ready to break free.
Skiddy breaks down again
I did a couple more things to fix up his road. Unfortunately, the fuel pump fix I got replaced yesterday, started failing again. The new pump is bad and needs to be replaced again. I tried to get Skiddy back up the hill to get it back where it can be worked on but the engine kept stopping and I could only move real slow and then it would still die. I moved it aways up the road, then parked it when my brother Tom came by with his side by side. I figured I better get a ride while I could. I’ll move it all the way back to the place we worked on it tomorrow, so it’s easier for the mechanic to work on it.
On the way, I went on past the neighbor I removed the stump for. He’s using his little tractor to fix the road in this section.
I parked Skiddy here for the night.
I went on home with Tom for a nap.
Nice day.
