Road work
I rode on up to where I park Skiddy and fueled it up.
Then I raised up the bucket and put on the safety lock on the boom.
I got the covers off the engine compartment.
And I found the fuel water separator.
But I forgot to bring up my manual and a jar to collect the water to check it out to see how much water was in it.
So I had to drive back home.
Gate
I noticed the park guys installed another gate post.
The state park was looking real nice.
Headed back
I got my stuff including my phone and rode on back up the hill.
Now I was ready to drain the water into the jar. I loosened up the drain valve but nothing came out, not even diesel.
Water
That’s not right, so I called John Deere and had a chat with them. They didn’t help much, so I removed the drain valve and water started to drip out.
A clue
During this process I turned on the fuel pump which meant the water should of poured out real fast but didn’t. A clue for later. It took a long time to get it started up which was another clue to the problem for later.
I put things back together and stared it up and went to work on the road and all was good for most of the day and I got a lot of work done.
Trouble
Toward the end of the day, it died on me several times but always started right back up.
On the way back up the hill, it started bucking again and I could only go real slow or it would buck and only go real slow.
Putting the clues together, I think the fuel pump is bad because it works with a full tank of fuel but starts acting up when the fuel tank gets lower.
I’ll fill it up again tomorrow and see if it works and then does this again when the fuel gauge gets under half full or so. At least the rig is still under warranty.
Still a nice day.
