Forest road work
I have to keep at it as the grounds are drying out which means it won’t pack in good when I put it on the road fi it gets too dry.
I rode up to where Skiddy is parked around noon.
Greased
Skiddy needed to be greased so I took care of that.
Water crossing
I first worked on making this water crossing bigger to make it easier for cars to cross it.
Hauling rock
Then I started hauling rock to finish off the road bed on the steepest part of the rode.
Track off
After a few loads, I was making a sharp turn on the road when the track came off it’s wheels.. Same track as yesterday. I think I may not have gotten the track tight enough when I fixed it yesterday.
This track is off it’s wheels and needs to be put back on.
Tried to fix it
I put blocks under the back and raise up the front to get the track off the ground so I can rotate it without the machine moving. I tried around six times to get it back on but eventually I caused it to come off the sprocket also. Darn. Now, the problem getting the track back on just got a lot worse.
I needed to go home and get some tools an my brother Tom to help me get the track back on .
Nice walk
I had to walk up the hill about a half mile to get Hondo so I could drive on home.
I had to wait for Tom to get back from selling at the Farmer’s market, but it wasn’t long.
We worked on the track
We worked at getting the track back on and finally got it. I made a mistake by moving the machine before I had the track real tight as I wanted to get the machine on leveler ground to work on it, instead of the slope it was on and the track fell off again, darn again, but practice makes perfect, or at lease it’s good training to make it easier to fix next time.
Got if fixed and rocking again
This time I made sure the track was real tight before moving the machine and got it fixed and got back to work moving rock onto the road to set the final road grade at an out slope so water will drain off it when it rains real hard as it does around here.
Hauling a load of rock for the road.
I was putting rock onto the road for traction and to out slope it.
Done for the day
It was seven when I got done what I wanted to get done today.
This is how one checks the track tension and adjusts it with a grease gun that pumps up the track.
There’s a grease fitting in there that you fill with grease to make the track longer and keep it tight enough to help it stay on.
After that, I fueled it up and went on home for the day.
Nice day, even fixing the track as it’s all in a nice forest setting.
