Forest road work
I’m working on getting ahead on getting the old road rocked. I’d like to get enough rock on the road to get us through any more spring rains so I don’t have to repair the road so much from tire ruts.
I’m mainly trying to put a thicker coat of rock on the lower steep part of the road that has a bad problem with water running down the road and making muddy messes when it rains.
I’m also just mostly putting the rock on the upper side of the road, the hilly side, to help make the road an out-sloped road so the rain water runs off the road better.
I got the skidder warmed up and drove off on this road headed for the rock slide where I was getting the rock to rock the road.
I mostly hauled rock most of the day down to that steep part of the road.
I started by dumping rock here on the lower part of the steep part of the road, out-sloping the road to the right.
I had to stop here to get out and throw those rocks off the road as they were too hard and wouldn’t break up and they were making it hard to make the road smooth.
Late in the day, I finished up dumping rock on this upper part of the road. I put the rock on fairly thick in this part as there’s lots of water popping out of the hill side in this spot when it rains a lot.
It was after five when I drove on back to where I park Skiddy and set up to put fuel in Skiddy.
I really do like the 12 volt electric pump I use to transfer the fuel to Skiddy’s tank. It makes the job easier and saves my back, not having to hold up those slow pouring fuel containers for such a long time.
