Forest road work
Today, I needed to go down the old dirt road and biff it up a bit smoothing off the side of it to make it look nice and let the water from rains off the road better. I also had to work on a couple of the water crossing to make them better. For some reason I have trouble getting the water crossings right so the water doesn’t run down the road. Trial and error seem to be the way it works until I get it right.
I rode on up through the redwood state park to where my rigs are parked. Today, I’d be using the skidder to do all the work as it’s works much better than the bulldozer for this purpose. The bulldozer has big cleats on the tracks, so it tends to tear things up when trying to smooth things out and is not as maneuverable as the skidder is that can turn on a dime and the tracks are smoother so it doesn’t tear things up as much
I worked on making things look nice for about two hours, then hauled a few buckets of rock to some wet spots.
I also removed the rest of the slide on the road.
Fueling up
I had to stop to fuel up the rig after a couple hours of work, then got back to it for about another hour and I was done, mostly with the prep for the rock we will put on it eventually. We plan to put about six inches of rock on the old road,
I quit around four and headed for home down through our place.
I was going down this road and almost home.
I had to stop to remove this small tree. An easy one, just a small tree that I could drag off the road.
Nice day.
