Getting Close To the End Of the Prep Work and Where’s My Camera

Tuesday January 21, 2025 Guerneville CA.

Forest road work

It seems like that is all I do these days, but I have almost got the most of it done, or all I can do for now.

As I rode up the road today, I could see two of my water crossings are letting some spring water run down the road. That’s because when car tires run over  the ditches, they cause a little rut that lets water get by and run down the road. The only thing I can do is make the ditches a bit deeper and try again. I’m trying not to get them too deep, but the road is steep so the ditches need to be deeper than normal.

No camera

I was going to take some pictures, but when I went to do that, my camera wasn’t with me. Did I leave it somewhere? Hummm? Maybe I left it home and forgot it, I hope so.

Ditch repair

Anyway, I worked on the two ditches and then hauled some more rock where it needed it and worked my way up the road until I was done.

I did dig out a ditch along the road that needed it too. The skidder works good for that.

Near the end

There wasn’t has much to do as I’m getting near the end of the main work on prepping the road for rock. It wouldn’t need so much work, except most of the road is a bit steep and I have to  haul the rock about a mile in some spots and the skidder doesn’t go very fast and even if it did, the road isn’t that smooth, so it can only go so fast without losing most of the rock out of the bucket.

I was done early, so fueled the skidder up with fuel.

State park guys

Then I went down to the state park shop to chat with the guys a bit, but the guys I needed to talk with weren’t there, but I did shoot the bull with the one guy that was there and got to know him a bit.

Headed for home

I was eager to get home to see if  my camera was there. Sure enough, it was right there, where I  left it on the living room chair. I always get concerned that I might leave  it someplace in the forest where it  might get rained on before I find it.

Nice day.
