Skiddy’s bumper work
I continued working on Skiddy’s bumper project in my work shop.
I needed to weld up the end caps on these two parts.
After welding the parts up I ground them off a bit to pretty them up. Those parts are done except for painting.
I set the parts on the bumper and added the new braces to the top of each one.
The parts still need to be welded on the bumper, but I want to check for fit, first, which will be my next step.
I’m hoping these braces will make the bumper strong enough so big trees don’t bend the bumper.
Forest work
It’s always nice after some work to take a ride up into the forest. I had some stuff to check out on this road.
Big ripped culvert
I wanted to check out the big culvert with the rip in it again to get some ideas on how to repair it. The culvert is in front of the bike. I got off and had a good look at the problem. The culvert is mostly too big for me to deal with, with a six foot diameter.
That size steel culvert would be expensive and hard for me to take out the old one and replace it with the new one.
Rocked crossing maybe
The road isn’t too steep in this spot and I’m wondering if a rocked crossing might be a better choice. Sometime to think about. I don’t like culverts much as they are high maintenance and can wash out everything when they get plugged up and did I mention that they cost a lot of money.
Road needs opened up
This road goes to my cousin’s spring and the road repair guys cut it off a number of years back and it needs to be opened back up so my cousin has spring access.
I walked up that road to check it out to see what I’d need to do to open it back up.
The road mostly needs scraped off a bit and isn’t too bad except for the start of it where it leaves the main road.
After that, I headed on home for the day and took it easy for the rest of the day.
Nice day.
