Changing Plans and Heading For the Warner Mountains

Thursday September 26, 2024 Warner Mountains CA.

Computer hinger repair

I picked up some epoxy at the Napa parts store on the way up as we stopped there yesterday for a part.

Last night I set up the computer for gluing it up. I first used some epoxy putty to glue and make dams so the next liquid epoxy I applied didn’t run through and all over the place.

After the putty set up, I applied the liquid epoxy in several different coats. I think I used about three thin coats for the mend. I then had to let it sit overnight to cure up.

Here’s the hinge glued up.hinge1

This morning I checked it out thinking it would just crack apart when I folded it up, but it didn’t and held. So if I’m careful enough it might not break while I use it.

Heading out

We talked it over this morning and decided to go back down where we were camped a couple days ago and spend some more time in the Plumas forest. But on the way we decided to stop at the Warner Mountains as it was on the way and would be a good place to camp and cut our traveling day short as far as traveling goes.

We pulled out of our camp spot and turned left on H 395 south. There is a huge salt type lake on the other side of the road that went for  miles along 395.saltlike2

We stopped at the Napa store in Alturas as I needed to get some cell service to post my blog and we needed a break. Bonus was  the shade there.napa3

After a good break we headed south on 395 to the Warner Mountain turnoff and stopped for a break here in the shade and studied the  map a bit for the Warner Mountains.break4

Camp

We than continued up  the road a few miles and turned on a dirt road we saw looking for a camp spot and found this one on a creek.camp5

The reason we stopped here is we wanted to be fresh when we entered the Warner’s tomorrow, so we set up camp.

And a view up the stream from our camp. We will try for crawdads here as it looks promising.creek7

We’ll head up into the Warner Mountains tomorrow.

Nice day.
