Sunday November 20, 2016 Jenner CA.
No rain so I’m headed out
It looked like the weather guy backed off on the rain prediction for the day, so I headed on down to Jenner to kayak in the estuary for the day.
The wind was down and the sun was out and there was a slight mist in the air.
I put my boat in the water and right away ran into this grebe diving in front of the boat ramp.
Looked nice up the river
I headed on out, headed up the river along Penny Island which is to the right.
A hike in the trees
I paddled on up to this spot I call Eagle’s landing and went ashore for a little hike up that hill under the big trees.
Headed down to the river’s mouth
The hike was a fairly short one. I got back in my boat and decided to head down to the river’s mouth and see what I could see.
Lone harbor seal
I’m paddling along here and spot that harbor seal off to the left on a submerged log.
So I paddled on over to get a picture. It’s one of my buddy’s so it just stays there and takes it easy.
I paddled along headed for the mouth down there in the mist. I can see and hear the ocean waves pounding the beach.
Big waves wash over the beach
I can see the waves as they wash over the sandy beach behind the jetty where the mouth used to be.
People should value their life more
It was high tide so I could approach the mouth without being pulled out into the ocean. I was watching these two people when I heard some shouting to get off the beach.
I could see the state life guard running toward the people and hear him shouting. He’s in a bad spot as a wave could break over the beach any moment.
The people started to leave as some big waves rolled in.
The people headed back in and the life guard was running back to get off that section of beach and all was peaceful again, except for the big waves crashing in.
I watched the waves for a bit as the sun got lower in the sky.
I paddled by these birds bathing and preening in the water.
Sun’s going down for another day
The sun was going down, so I headed on in for the day.
On the way, I ran into this kingfisher which sat longer than usual and I was able to get this picture of it. It was diving for little fish off the stick.
I made it to the boat ramp and went on home for the day.
That was my day.
