A Sorta Bike Riding Day and Fixing a Flat Tire

Bike ride

I decided to go on up through the state park to the guys who live in the high country to see  if they had time for a ride around the area.

When I arrived, I said my Hi’s and got a fresh orange off their orange tree and got two more to take home when I leave a bit later.

Well, they wanted to go for a bike ride, but first they had to get some gas for one of the bikes, which meant, they had to siphon some gas out of a truck, but then they couldn’t find the right siphon hose. They did find a hose, but during the process of trying to suck some gas out of the truck’s gas tank, they discovered the siphon hose had a hole in it. The hole was near the end of the hose, so they cut that part off. But this just caused another problem. With shortened hose, they’d suck some gas but when they put the end of it in the gas container, it pulled the part of the hose in the tank out of the gas. Once they figured out what was wrong, they hunted up another hose and finally got a couple of gallons of gas.

So now we were ready to go, well, almost. We were going over to another neighbor’s to show the guy how to change a dirt bike tire that was flat, so they hunted around for their tire changing tools but could only find one of them and it takes three tire changing irons to change a tire, so they kept hunting around the garage and shop without much lock. They finally found the other ones and now we were off to go over to the other neighbor’s place who lived in the state  park, because he was a ranger that worked in the state park.

One of the guys helped and showed the neighbor how to get the tire off and put a new tube in and they finally got the tire back together. During this process, the guys little kid about three or so years old gave me a tour around the place showing me every little thing, the chickens, his forts and his little club house his dad had build for him among other things

They got the tire fixed and back on the dirt bike and it held air, but now it was late in the day so all we had time for was to ride on back to the place we started from going the long way as to get a little bit of riding in. Since they live up in the high country there are plenty of nice views up there, but I’d forgotten my camera at home.

I did remember to pick up a couple  more of those fresh oranges then I took off for home.

Nice day.
