Cell phone spot
I rode up onto the ridge top, up in the hills, to use the cell phone, but I forgot my reading glasses so I had to go back home to get them.
Once I had my glasses I rode up to this spot, which was a bit closer and made my call. I got good cell phone signal in this spot. Cell phone service at my house isn’t too good.
Trail work
After the call, I rode on over to where I’m working on the pipe trail.
Move that pipe
I need to do something about getting this old spring hook up pipe out of the way, so I started with that. The pipe wasn’t being used anymore and was from the old days, when this was part of the Armstrong Ranch.
I dug the part of the pipe that was buried out and put it up on the hillside. Good for now.
Stump
I had another spot here, where there was a small stump I needed to do something about.
It’s a small stump so I just decided to cover it up with dirt as I wanted more dirt on top of the swallow buried water pipe anyway. I dug into the hillside to get more dirt and widen the trail out.
You can see the stump there. I’m making a ramp up and over the stump to make it disappear.
I’d work on the trail, then sit in the chair to rest up, repeating that until I got things done.
The trail looks pretty good in this area now.
Here’s another view looking the other way and that’s enough work for one day.
Talking Trees Trail
As I was working on the trial, I realized this part of the trail should be the start of another trail that is just up the valley a short distance that I call the Talking Trees trail, but they need to be connected somehow so I checked out a way to do that. I wanted to make a trail between the two pieces, so it’d go up along the creek, but there were too many big trees and stumps to do that, so I decided this road would have to do to connect the two trails.
The road continues on up though this spot and takes me to a place to cross the creek to get to the upper part of the trail. Not exactly what I wanted, but this will save me a bunch of work.
It was after five, so I headed on home. Plenty of exercise for one day.
Nice day.
After reading Nancy’s blog today, I see you did a good deed in the phone call! Well done.
Lovely trails….who knew they needed so much work. (Obviously I have never lived among lots of trees…..)
