moving woodchips
Yes, I needed to clean the mud out of Skiddy’s tracts, but first I wanted to spread out these woodchips so there’s more room for them to delivery more woodchips.
i used Skiddy to spread out the woodchips. Not too much, but just enough for the chickens to take over to do the rest.
Cleaning track mud
I got the water hose out and a steel wrecking bar and started to hose off the mud. I used the steel bar to help break up the hard mud and the water worked good to wash out the mud. I had a pressure washer, but my hose has sixty pounds of pressure so didn’t need it. The real trick to doing this was using the steel bar to break up the mud during the wash out process. I got he second side done much faster than the first side as I improved my working techniques.
You can see the track is full of sticky mud, some dry and some wet.
That looks much better without all the mud.
I let my chickens out to graze the yard.
Track tension
Now that the tracks were cleaned up, it was time to check the track tension, so I put the rig up like this so I can measure the slack in the track.
Adjusting the tracks
The tracks were a little loose so I got the grease gun out to tighten them up to spec. That’s done by pumping grease into the adjuster like this.
Then I greased up the Skiddy. It was almost dark when I got done with that, but now Skiddy is ready to go to work again.
Nice day.
