Stuck
I’d just gotten started today hauling rock on the old dirt road. I’d just hauled my first load of rock down to the road and dumped it.
Ditch cleaning
Then I tried to clean out this ditch and sunk and was stuck, just like that.
The rig only has ten inches of clearance under it so it doesn’t have to sink much to get stuck. And to make it even worse, the rear was up against the hillside, so I couldn’t back up very much.
Stuck for sure
It wouldn’t budge, no matter what I tried. The left side of the machine had sunk in the mud in the ditch.
Dozer to the rescue
After getting out and having a look at the problem, I walked on up to where the bulldozer was parked and brought it down to where I was stuck.
But first, I drove Skiddy home to get a steel chain to do the pulling, then came back and started up the dozer and took it down to where Skiddy was stuck.
I got the chain hooked up and the dozer too and just pulled the Skidder out of the mud.
The bulldozer was much larger than Skiddy, so it had no problem pulling Skiddy out of the ditch and back up onto the rocky road.
Muddy ditch
That did it. You can see the muddy ditch it was stuck in. Now I have to get more rock and fill up that ditch with it.
There’s a spring under that ditch, that’s why it’s so muddy. The rock will fix that.
I got that ditch filled in with rock and hauled some more rock onto the road for a few hours today.
I also patched up my haul road a bit to make it smoother.
Getting stuck wasn’t too bad, mostly because I have a bull dozer.
Nice day.
