Is the Weird Plant Blooming Yet and Trail Work

Saturday May 20, 2023 Guerneville CA.

Chair hopping

I usually start out the day doing some chair hopping around the yard, thinking about what and how I’m going to do whatever it is I’m going to do for the day.

This was the sky looking west from one of my chairs.sky1

Tools

I was thinking I’d like to have some tools stashed at the new spring so I could work on it anytime I rode on by. The tools were up on the old trail so I rode the quad runner up there and rode on up the trail to the top. I took the trail to the right.trail2

It was the first time I rode the quad runner all the way up to the top. It barely fit on the trail so one has to be a bit careful, but it’s actually safer than riding the motor bike up here as it doesn’t wobble like the bike and goes as slow as you want.trail3

Ridge top

I made it up to the ridge top and rode to this spot.quad1

I had to walk from there as there were parts the quad couldn’t get through.

It was easy walking on the ridge top.trail

Weird Plant Inspection

I was hoping the plant was blooming, but it wasn’t.plant

Did you see the trap door spider hole by the plant? There seems to be quite a few of these spider holes around this part of the forest.trapdoor

Anyway, no flowers, only buds.budss

The buds look like they are about to bloom, but non have bloomed yet.bud

I continued on down the trail and picked up the tools on the way from where they were stashed.trail5

Trail work

I worked on this part of the trail to make it easier to walk.trail6

And I worked on this part of the trial.trail7

After a good workout, I took the tools and rode on down the hill headed for the new spring where I was going to leave the tools for future use.

The spring looks the same as yesterday. No more dirt came down since then either. I hope it’s mostly done sliding.spring8

I left the tools there and rode on home.

Nice day.

New to spring development here, but would a spring box kind of an arrangement help out with the dirt sliding into the spring run? I always enjoy your treks into the woods, keep them coming.

At first glance the plant looked like a mushroom of some kind. Up close it looks like it SHOULD be flowering. Weird stuff …..

I’m also curious to see how that plant looks in bloom.
That quad runner on that narrow trail freaks me out!

I hope that plant blooms before you go off on your trip and we can all see what it is!! It’s taking its time.
