Working on getting the phone working
That’s how I spent most of the day.
I drove on down to Walmart and bought a months worth of phone service and internet, called Straight Talk. I did this so I could get my new phone working for the trip as I figured I wouldn’t be able to get my old number in the new phone before I took off for the trip, especially with the holiday.
When I got home I worked on getting the Straight Talk installed, but it didn’t go easy. I spent most of the afternoon working on that. I thought I finally got it done, but the problem is there’s almost no cell phone signal at my house and I needed to test it.
Up the hill to test the cell phone
I decided to ride up to the ridge top to test it out, just before dark.
These wild flowers are just starting to bloom.
Foxgloves
Foxgloves and there seems to be a lot of them this year and they are large. Likely from the heavy winter rains we had this year.
View from the top
I was able to get a cell signal up here but no matter what I tried, I couldn’t make a call.
I figured the signup stuff might not of going though on their computer yet.
Guerneville getting dark
Yes and it was time I got on home especially since the bike doesn’t have any lights.
Problem fixed
Once I got home, I started playing with the phone some more and now it wanted to do an update on the Straight Talk app, so I let it do it, hoping this might fix the problem and it did.
Even with the bad cell service here, I noted the phone started doing text as I got some form Straight Talk.
With the weak signal I wasn’t able to test the voice part, but I think it may work.
Took all day
So, by the end of the day, I think I got it working. :O)
New camera app
The main reason I wanted this new phone is because my old phone wouldn’t play the software app for my new camera as it was too slow.
I hope to play around with this new camera on my upcoming trip as we will be by a lot of creeks with beaver in them and who knows what else.
Nice day, as I learned a lot of stuff about cell phones.
Electronics can be so frustrating! Glad you got it fixed in time for the trip.
Maybe you can get a cell signal booster that would help with your signal. I have one on our RV and it helps when we get into areas with weak signals.
