Rainy day
It was raining as I got it going today, so it was mostly an in the house type of day.
Rain ride
But in the afternoon, I decided to go for a ride up into the forest to check out some roads to make sure they were draining properly, mostly on my neighbors place.
I loaded up the quad with a shovel and took off in the rain, putting my new camera in a rain coat pocket which I should of likely left at home where it was dry.
Most of the roads on our property drain well, so I headed to my neighbor’s place to see how the roads there were draining as they seem to have the most drainage problems on their roads.
I thought the water would be flowing more than it was as it had been raining a lot. But the heaviest rain was to come just around dark.
I did some shovel work on the neighbor’s roads to improve things a bit. The best time to see how roads are draining is to be out in the rain, instead of being at home in a cozy dry place, but few people do this.
Dead camera
When I took out my new camera, it wouldn’t turn on. I was pretty sure it didn’t get wet but with the rain coming down I couldn’t check it out or it would get wet.
I was thinking my new camera failed for some reason, maybe I got it wet but it appeared to be dry.
Anyway, I rode around some more enjoying the rainy day in the forest. I was out for a couple of hours and getting a bit wet, so eventually headed towards home. For some reason my rain pants had a leak in them.
Once home I got out of the wet rain gear and into some warm clothes.
I tried the new camera again and it still was dead. I tried another battery and it worked so I put the new battery back in it and it worked. I think the contacts weren’t making contact for some reason, so all seemed good with that.
It looks like we are in for some rain and rain showers for about a week or so. That seems like a good time to go out and buy a new side by side which will make a better rig to go out in the rain with and to use as a work rig in the forest as it can carry tools better than the rigs I have.
Nice day.
