Dentist

I went to my new dentist for a cleaning today. The Hygienist was great and did a real good job cleaning my teeth, so I’m  happy with that.

VA

After that, I  headed for the shopping centers, but first I had to stop at the VA to get a new ID card and make an appointment for my yearly. The person who did ID updates wasn’t there, so that didn’t get done, but I did make an appointment for my yearly, so at least that got done.

Costco

Nest I drove on over to Costco and spent six hundred bucks, mostly on meat, Ribeye steaks. I buy them by the slab and I bought two which will feed me for about a  month. I did also buy quite a bit of cheeses and some nuts.

I drove on home and parked the car and unloaded it.

Park Guys, but no car

I wanted to meet up with the park guys to discuss some stuff I’ll be doing with them, so I got in my car to drive the short distance to the park to meet them when they returned to headquarters at five, but the whole car was dead, nothing worked, like the battery was dead, so I took my side by side up there, but no go. They were all up north somewhere helping to install a bridge in one of the other state parks.

Car problem

When I returned home I popped the hood on the car to check out the battery, but first tried to turn my master battery switch I installed and it fell apart in my hand. They made a faulty crimp when they made the switch so it just fell apart, lucky not until I got home with the car. I have another master switch I can install, but didn’t feel like it today.

Skiddy does some work

I told one of my neighbors I’d do some road repairs for them so I was off this morning headed up into the forest to get the repairs done on their road.

Fill that ditch

This ditch is collecting too much water and causing the road to erode on the roads that are beneath it. The fix is to fill in the ditch and out-slope the road a bit to drain the water off the road in more places than just where the ditch would dump it on the lower roads.

Ditch filled with dirt

I’ve mostly got the ditch filled up with dirt and rock. I had to get out to remove that big root as it was just a big bump for Skiddy.

Big roots

We have big trees, so we also have big roots to deal with when working in the  hills making repairs to roads. I throw it off the road.

Neighbors

My neighbors came by with their dog to check out the work and were completely satisfied with my fixes. They live up on the hilltop to the right and are walking back to their house.

Draining the flat

After I closed up that ditch, I moved to this big flat turn to improve the ditch in the middle of it so the water would drain better down the backside of the mountain to the right, instead of down on the roads beneath it  on the far side. No roads are affected below the right side so this should repair the  water drainage problem on the lower roads.

After fixing that flat, I parked here for a break and got ready to head on back home down the hill as it was after 5.

I take off and am heading for home down the hill to my place at the bottom of the hill about a half hour drive.
