Blog repairs

My blog host sent an email around noon saying he repaired the blog the best he could with what was there and suggested I find another blog host that is better equipped to take care of my blog. I think I have one, but first I need to see if it will post properly.

Bulkhead work

Today I needed to work on the bulkhead project, so I got started around noon on it.

I started here with this much done and now have to get some more metal sheets up and cement blocks on the bottom.

I attached some 2x4s to screw the metal sheets to. Hard to see them in this picture.

Then I cut the 8 foot metal sheets in half.

Just before dark, I have the cement block base and metal sheets installed and  now ready for the next step.

Now we’ll see if the pictures will post and the blog is fixed. Here goes.

Sorry, I seem to be having some publishing problems.

Hoping this is fixed and I can publish.

Bulkhead work

I got the tools together and got ready to fix up this hole in the bridge bulkhead.

But first I sat down and studied the situation and changed my plan a little. I decided not to take out the cement stuff on the left as it’s doing a good job and it would also make a lot less work for me to take it out and put it someplace else.

But the hole to the right of it was what I was going to work on today.

Framed

I had some treated 2x4s and started constructing a frame to hole up the steel sheets.

Ready for the sheet metal

The idea here is to stop the current from washing out this area during high water. The dirt here is fairly stable so it’s not necessary to hold it up, but it is necessary to keep the water from washing it out.

Finished

I worked about four hours on it before I had the final screw in and was done. And my back was screaming a bit from changing the motor bike tires the other day so hurt a bit so I was glad to be done with this part.
