Raspberry canes
After some chair hopping, I got out my pruning tools and started cutting out the dead canes in this raspberry patch. After about a half hour working on that, my back said it had enough.
Blackberry vines
So I got a shovel and switched go digging out these unwanted wild blackberry vines before they get any larger. They sure seem to like to grow in this area and will likely outlive me. About a half hour of that for now, but there’s more. Something I have to do each spring to try and keep ahead of them.
More radiator repair
Then I checked the car’s radiator repair I did yesterday. I filled the radiator up with water and started the car and had a look at the radiator. The repair I made yesterday held but there was another hole nearby that I repaired and hope that is the last one at least for now. I need a new radiator eventually.
Sitting hen
I checked on the hen that was sitting on eggs that I put in this nesting box last night. She seems to like it in there and doesn’t have to put up with the rest of the chickens messing with her. One of the things the other hens try to do is lay more eggs in her nest which they did. I think she has about 18 eggs under her. 12 is a about the limit, usually.
Trail work and a hike
Around three I hopped on the quad runner and went up into the forest and did some trail repairs and a short hike just like yesterday. Half way up I realized I’d forgotten my camera.
Chair hopping with the chickens
When I came back home I did some chair hopping with the chickens just taking it easy and enjoying the yard.
Mr. Rooster
This is my main rooster, looking good.
Sunset
I watched the sun go down behind the hills to the west.
Digging a hole
The last thing I did just before dark was to dig a hole for a fruit tree I want to transplant to this spot.
I got the hole dug and ready to plant the tree in it, but not now.
Kitty cat
My neighbor’s cat was hunting right by where I was digging. Something was down in a hole and she was still there when I left.
Nice day.
I didn’t know chickens are like cowbirds leaving their eggs for somebody else to raise.
Sigh. I love blackberries. A lot more than raspberries, but it’s your place! Sigh.
