Kayak day
I hadn’t been kayaking in quite some time, so today, that’s what I planned to do.
I got my stuff together and headed down towards Jenner to kayak for the day.
State park headquarters
But first, on the way, I planned to make a stop here at the State Park’s headquarters to see if the head guy was in as I wanted to chat with him about what’s happening on our possible family land sale to them that they are working on.
I went on in, but no luck as the head guy wasn’t in this week.
Jenner overlook
I continued on down the road to the Jenner overlook, to have a look at the river’s mouth and the ocean.
River’s mouth
This is where the Russian River runs into the Pacific ocean and this is called the river’s mouth.
There’s always lots of critters resting on the beaches here.
Harbor seals
Here’s some of the harbor seals that live here, resting up after a hard mornings fishing out in the ocean.
And some cormorants resting up too.
Goat Rock
This is looking south at what is called Goat Rock, a state park’s beach, a very popular place.
After a good look at that, I traveled the short distance back to the Jenner boat ramp and put my boat in the water and headed across the river. I decided to paddle up the river a mile or so today, going this way.
I’m headed up river, to a spot, just up ahead.
I stopped here for a bit to sit and have a look around for a bit, before continuing on up the river. I heard a splash that sounded like a river otter diving, but when I looked, all I saw was the splash.
I made it up to this spot where I was headed for the day. I just sit around in my boat watching for anything going on and enjoying the day.
River otters
I finally did see some otters. This one just caught something and is just surfacing. I couldn’t make out what it had caught, but it consumed it quickly and dove again and I didn’t see them anymore.
Horses
Up on the hill, across the river from where I was sitting in my boat I could see these two horses grazing away. These two have it pretty good down here, living where they do.
After sitting there for about an hour, I slowly started working my way back down the river to the Jenner boat ramp, up there on the right side.
I got the boat on the car and drove on home for the day.
Nap time
There’s something about being down by the ocean that makes one want a nap, so that’s what I did for the rest of the day.
Nice day.
Nice and peaceful.
You need to take up fishing, Bob. I wish I was out there now so I could kayak out the mouth. I always wanted to take Gino Francesci with me. So much for that. I’m with you as far as what is happening with the park buying the ranch. Do they want it or not?
