A Day Of Exploring the East Warner’s

Friday September 27, 2024 Warner Mountains, Northeastern CA.

We woke at our camp site along the creek. Turns out that creek is the South Fork of the Pit River.camp1

Crawfish

We checked out our traps and I had about a dozen. Marty’s trap was empty so he’s working on improving it for the next time. Seems they might of all been getting out of the trap, so he worked on making a better door.trap2

Exploring

The plan today was to do some exploring of what they call the east Warner’s. We drove on up this road.road3

And on roads like this one. We are always looking for a new camp spot. We wanted one with a creek, but couldn’t find any in this area. A lot because we were on the mountain top meadow areas.road4

We explored for several hours, then turned back to explore on the way back.

Marty usually follows me so he doesn’t have to figure out where to go. See him in the mirror.mirror5

We went through this big valley they call Jess Valley, which looked like it was mostly cattle ranches.jessie6

Back to camp

We didn’t find any good camp spots with water so we made it back to the one we used last night as it was a real good one.

The Pit River from the bridge by our camp, looking up stream. I went for a walk up the left side for a ways.creek7

I went under the bridge to get back to camp, just to the left past the bridge.creek8

Camp is here from the bridge.camp9

Crawdads

We put the traps out hopping to catch more of the little guys.trap10

Plans

We’ll be doing some more exploring tomorrow, but this time we will go to what they call the west Warner’s.

We’ll be camping up there whether we find a creek or not as we’ll be moving in that direction for our travels.

Nice day.
