A Forest Ride, Some Visiting and Rat Control

Friday September 15, 2023 Guerneville CA.

I was talking on the phone this morning when I heard a knock at the door. It was Barry ready to go for a ride up into the forest.

We rode around a bit.

Fog

This was the view south from a ridge top. Notice the fog sneaking in from the Pacific ocean.fog

Trail Cams

We rode over to where I had some trail cams and started hunting for the  one I had misplaced. While I was getting the card out of one of them, Barry says here’s one. That was the one I couldn’t remember where it was. Nothing much on any of them.

Visiting

After some more riding around we headed over to my cousin’s place for a visit. We sat at the table outside with this view to the west. We shot the bull for a couple of hours when I cried uncle, let’s go riding.view

We rode around a bit then headed up to our ridge top rest area where we rested up a bit. After a good rest we took off again and ended up at this small creek which is at the top of our little waterfall. I wanted to check out the water in the holes. There was a little water, just enough to keep the waterfall wet, but that’s all.fall

By that time we’d had a good ride so headed back to my house. It was late in the day when we got there so Barry took off for his home and I went in for a nap.

Eggs

A bit later, I went over to collect the eggs from my brother’s chickens and put some more bait in his rat station.

Rats

I checked my rat bait station when I got home, but it still had plenty of bait. I seem to have my rat problem under control, thanks to the bait station I constructed.
Rats are a never ending problem so I keep bait in it so when they show up from my neighbors or out of the forest, there’s something for them to devour. That’s the only thing I’ve discovered that works on rats. Every other method I tried failed badly as rats are just too darn smart to fall for traps and such. And baking soda and plaster of Paris failed completely.

Nice day.
