Kayaking around Jenner
I headed on down to Jenner again today to do some more kayaking.
It was a bit overcast but the wind was down as I paddled across to Penny Island and decided to head down towards the river’s mouth area to check out the new harbor seal pups.
Big Splashes
On the way over to the mouth area, I ran into some big splashes that turned out to be harbor seals frolicking in the water.
Lots of harbor seals on the beaches
I’m paddling down this way where I see a lot of harbor seals resting on the sandy beaches up ahead.
This years seal pups
There’s a couple fresh pups in this group.
Up ahead I see lots more seals as I approach the mouth area.
River’s mouth area
Here’s some of them checking me out.
The white one in the middle is a new pup. They are often times born white but soon turn to whatever color they are going to be.
River’s end
I continued paddling past the open mouth to the end of the river where I sat for a bit. These seals came over to check me out.
Eventually I paddled out of that area going by these birds, some seagulls and some terns.
I saw this crow over on shore as it came down to the river’s edge to get a drink of water.
And I went by this merganser duck pair, the female is out in front.
Paddling up the river a bit
I paddled up past Penny Island and stopped in this spot for a rest before continuing on up along here.
Flowery bush
Eventually I made it up to Muskrat where there is this nice green grass. I noticed the bush with white flowers which turned out to be an elder berry bush.
After a good break by the elder berry bush I started back down the river stopping here and there. Here’s one of the spots I stopped at.
Not into shopping, but
From there I made it in to the boat ramp and headed on home. I was thinking of stopping in town to shop some, but I wasn’t really into it. But when I got back to Guerneville I was getting hungry so I thought it would be a good idea to shop for some food which I did and went home and put the stuff away.
Then a nap and eventually I went outside to do some puttering in the yard.
Transplanting my grape plant
I dug up the new grape plant I wanted to transplant to the edge of my not built yet chicken run so it will get a good start there.
Here’s the new grape plant I planted.
I spent the rest of the day chair hopping around the yard and that was my day for a good one.
Sounds like a great day! Thanks for the harbor seals pictures. Something we never see here.
Your grape plant is doing well!
