Trail work
I worked on my chainsaw, fixing it the other day, so now I can use it to cut some big logs off a trail I’ve been working on.
I loaded the chainsaw on my little quad runner and headed for the tiny little trail that goes up to the ridge top where I want to cut the logs. This small quad runner barely fits on the trail. But if I take it easy and go slow, I can make it, at least so far. The quads big fat tires help a lot to keep me on the trail too.
Eventually the trail gets up onto the ridge top and follows it for a ways.
I almost made it to where the big log was I wanted to cut and was only short of that log about fifty feet when I ran into this downed tree.
I got the chainsaw out and tried to start it. It putted once and that was it.
Big log
I tried to start the saw several times with not even a putt. So this big log didn’t get cut and off the trail, not today.
I walked back up the trail to where the quad was parked and got it turned around to head back down the hill.
I headed down the narrow trail, carefully and made it to the bottom.
Once I hit the bottom of the trail, I headed for home going down this road.
I went on down through this area that used to be an old apple orchard.
Checking out the chain saw
I took the chain saw apart and found it had no spark, again, just like the last time.
I looked over the coil carefully and could see some cuts in the plug wire that were hidden under a wire covering. A used part.
I’m not sure if I bought a new one or a used one from eBay, but I do know I bought a bad one from them.
The trouble is they don’t seem to make this one for this older saw and the dealers don’t have it and I can’t seem to match up the numbers on the old part exactly. I ordered what might work on Amazon, giving this one last try.
Nice day.

Evil Bay strikes again. I have given up on Evil Bay. Too many crooks there now. Amazon is a little better, but it might be time for a new chainsaw.
