State Park
I made sure I had the tools I’d need today and loaded up fuel for the rigs and headed up to the state park to talk with some guys.
Buying a cow
I also wanted to talk with a lady who works in here about buying a cow, but she wasn’t in today. She lives on a ranch up the coast a ways.
Checking stuff out
It’s supposed to rain pretty hard tonight, so I checked on some stuff on the road I’ve been working on rocking.
Rock Slide
I stopped the check it out. Looks ok now, but I bet it moves a bet tonight during the heavy rains.
Ditching
I’m trying to get the water to run off the road here so it doesn’t wash it out down below. I gave it a little help fixing the ditch with my Pulaski. When it rains, water flows big time everywhere up here, so it’s important to get the water off the road before it does damage. A spring just pops out of the hill in the middle of the road, just above this when it rains.
Here’s another spot where a spring crosses the road that had created a soft muddy wet spot. I put some rock on here the other day and was checking to make sure the water was running across the road in the ditch which it was. Let it rain.
Bulldozer battery problems
When I went to start the dozer the other day, it wouldn’t start and would barely turn over. I did get it started then, but now it wouldn’t start. I cleaned up all the battery cable connectors and it still wouldn’t turn over.
I’ll have to bring up some jumpers and a volt meter the next time I come up to check things out further. And I’ll need another battery too to jump it, if need be.
Fuel
Next I fueled up Skiddy and the dozer so they will be ready to go when needed.
From there, I headed towards home, down the hill.
I stopped here to have a look at the forest with the rain.
Overlook
Then I drove on over to the Guerneville overlook for a look.
Home
Back home I got my stuff out to check the battery voltages. I got another battery out of my van to take up, just in case.
The dozer battery read 13.4 volts, but didn’t seem to be working right. I checked the battery water level and it was down below the plates. Maybe that is the problem. I put some water in it and put it on the battery charger. The other van battery seemed to be a bit low at 12.2 volts so I’ll charge that one up too.
I spent the rest of the day taking it easy in the house where it was warm and dry.
Nice day.
