Checking old road
I rode on up to check on the road. All looked good and nothing to do on it today, so I went for a ride and stopped here at this overlook on our place.
It was one of those nice days.
I rode down to this water pool to have a look.
It’s only a small pool of water, but still a nice spot. I looked for mosquito fish in the water but I didn’t see any, so I should restock them soon as they eat mosquito larva.
Trail work
Eventually, I made it down to this spot. A trail goes on up along the little creek here and I wanted to trim some brush on it.
The trail goes by our family memorial.
And on up along this little creek.
Here’s a better shot of the little creek that goes on up along the trail.
I didn’t have much to do on the trail and most of it was clear of debris.
But I did find these trees that had fallen across the trail. They’ll need a chainsaw to clear them off the trail.
This is some of the little brush bushes I wanted to trim off the trail, so I took care of that. They are sprouting up from a cut down tree.
I went on home after that.
Windshield
With most of the rains done for the year, it’s time to remove the windshield from Hondo as it causes a vacuum when riding around which pulls in lot of dust into the cab area. It’s easy to remove as it had a bunch of big plastic clips that hold it on.
Kinky hose
A number of years ago, I bought this hose from Costco. It’s a piece of crap as it kinks real easily and is a pain in the butt to use. That’s the new one I just installed.
And that’s the old kinky one I took off. I also put a sprinkler on in the yard to get the grass to grow for the chickens.
Woodchips
I needed to pull back some of the woodchips that where leaning on my avocado tree, so I took care of that with the pitchfork.
Old van
And it was time to get the old van started up and put out in the sun to air it out from sitting in the shed all winter. I had to put the dozer battery in it as it didn’t have a battery.
It started right up, but I found the gas pedal was stuck when I drove it out of the shed.
I tried lubing the pedal first, but that’s not where it was stuck so I investigated and found a throttle cable had frozen up, so I applied oil until it freed up.
That pretty much finished off the day.
Nice day.
