Paddling Jenner
It looked like a nice day to go kayaking so I headed off to Jenner around 11 this morning. There was some light fog in the air as I arrived, more like a mist.
I put the boat in the water and paddle across the river and headed on up along this side.
I passed by this great egret fishing in these sticks.
And I stopped at the old redwood log graveyard and sat for a bit.
I could see these merganser ducks resting on the shore across the river from me.
I pulled in by Eagle’s Landing where I noticed this scrub jay on a rock. It came quite close to me as it seemed to be curious.
I moved up the river just a bit more, not too far and stopped by this rock for a bit.
I could see some cattle grazing across the river from me in a field of flowers.
I didn’t go very far today and turned and headed back down the river at a slow pace going by here.
As I paddled along I spotted this weird looking duck resting on the shore. My guess is it’s a shovel bill. It flew off just as I went past it.
And stopped here at Otter’s log for a bit.
That great egret was still fishing as I went by.
I made it back to the boat ramp and loaded up my boat and headed for home.
Shopping for vegetables
On the way home I stopped in Guerneville for some things to make a big pot of vegetable soup and continued on home.
Moving the brush pile
My brother Tom was in my yard with his tractor so I asked him to move this brush pile over a bit so it would be out of the way on my new garden enclosure I’m making. He pushed it out of the way and under the pile was some good mulch.
Vegetable soup
I went in the house and cut up the vegetables I bought and started them to cook and went back outside.
Moving the mulch
I moved the mulch to this spot which I will fence in for a vegetable garden.
I will add more mulch as I go. The spot is ready for the enclosure I’m working on.
It was a pleasant evening so I chair hopped for the rest of he day until it got dark and I came on in the house for the day.
That was my day.
What a great day! You have such beautiful yak rides!
The garden will flourish with that fresh mulch. Good luck!
It will be another month before I can plant in mine. Well, maybe sooner. :)
