I got caught in the mist today.

I had planned to kayak Jenner today. As I was driving down to Jenner, I past though Monte Rio and it was clear, but as I approached Jenner, it was misty, even drizzling, so I drove back to Monte Rio to put my boat in the water. Just as I got in the water, the drizzle started in Monte Rio too.

I needed my rain pants.

So, I went back to shore and got my rain pants out of the car and put them on and continued down the river at a leisurely pace.

Steve was down there fishing in his kayak.

I ran into Steve, just down the river fishing for steelhead from his kayak. He talked my ear off for awhile, then we headed down to the Villa Grand hole.

Drizzle, Drizzle, but still nice.

It drizzled off and on all day, but was still a real nice day on the river.

I shot the bull with Andrew for quite awhile.

As we approached the Villa Grand hole, I spied Andrew with his big dog on the beach talking to some people. I chatted with him for an hour or so, while Steve tried to catch some fish just below the hole, but was unsuccessful.

We did see several of the spent steelhead heading back to the ocean.

After talking with Andrew, I joined Steve just below the Villa grand hole, where I watched him try to catch some fish for a couple hours without any success. We than headed back up the river.

Below, is a picture of a pair of merganser ducks, the male is on the left.

They didn’t catch any big fish today.

Steve tried fishing the slot just below Monte Rio for awhile. There was another guy there too, in his boat trying his luck. Neither one of them caught any fish while I was there. I watched for awhile, then headed in and took my boat out of the water and headed home for a nap.

Even though it was a bit on the misty side and sometimes even drizzling, it was a nice day on the river.
