Monte Rio to Casini’s and back
Since I hadn’t kayaked the Monte Rio area in awhile, I decided today would be a good day to do it. I put my boat in the water at the boat ramp and headed on down the river taking my time.
One of the friendly male mallard ducks swim by as I paddled on down.
And I watched as the great blue heron chased off a great egret down the river.
The egret took refuse in this brush here.
I wasn’t sure how far down the river I wanted to paddle, but I was thinking of going to Casini’s ranch.
The rock on the right is a place I stop and sit for a break.
I continued on down the river. Not many people on the river today.
Casini Ranch area
I’m just coming into the Casini Ranch area in this photo.
I went past Casini’s to just past Brown’s pool and turned around just below here and started back up the river. I could see the Duncan’s Mills Bridge when I turned around.
I didn’t see any big fish at the Casini riffle
I stopped at the Casini riffle to check for fish coming up the river, but the water was too high to see anything. I continued on up to Rein’s beach where Moscow pool is and stopped just at the top of Moscow here for a bit.
I paddled by these cormorants at the Sheridan Ranch Beach.
And sat with this great blue heron and got some sun with it for a bit.
It was just after 3PM when I paddled by here just below Monte Rio.
This was the view as I paddled into the boat ramp at Monte Rio.
I put my boat on the car and went on home.
Fixing the van’s headlight adjusters
After a short break, I worked on installing the van’s new headlight adjusters and put the headlight fixtures back together and did a rough adjustment of the lights. The new headlight adjusters worked out well and now the headlights are easy to adjust. I need to find tune the lights in the dark and then that project will be done.
That was my day for a nice one.
