Dirt bike riding

I was sitting around in the yard this morning when my brother Barry pulled in on his Harley Motorcycle. We shot the bull for a bit then he said you want to go for a ride meaning on the dirt bikes. My body was pretty sore so I said sure but stay off the really steep stuff.

Spinning out

He walked across the street to get his dirt bike. I put gas in another brother’s bike and rode over to meet him and we rode on up into the redwood forest flying up and down the roads. The ground is drying out so I spun out a couple times, that’s when the back wheel walks out to the side and you find yourself headed off the road. I just stop quick, usually killing the engine, but that’s better than running off the roads as some of the spots are real steep.

Break time

Anyway we rode around for a couple hours then I left him so he could ride up some steep stuff and I went on home were some food and a nap were in order.

Dead battery

Eventually Barry came back to my yard. When he was ready to leave his Harley wouldn’t start from a dead battery. He said it was dead when he left his house, but  he thought it should of got charged up enough, but it didn’t.

Here he is trying to start the bike but it wouldn’t turn over.bike

Not to worry he says and digs in his bag for his jump starter battery he brought along just in case.start

That did the trick. It started right up so he put things back in his bag and roared away.barry

Eating radishes

The radishes I planted a few weeks ago or so are starting to develop radishes.

Here’s one of the radish patches I planted. You can see some red radishes in there if you look hard.radishes

They’re not very big, but they are edible and a bit hot. I ate a few. I like to eat things right out of the garden while I’m in the garden.rads

Pole beans and slugs

My pole beans are starting to take off after fighting the slugs off them for a couple weeks. I seemed to have slowed the slugs down and now the plants are big enough they should survive even if they do get on them. When the plants were small they could eat the whole plant and kill it of which they did kill a couple of them before I started picking them off with a tweezers and a flash light late at night.beans

I drifted into the blueberry patch several times today to eat a few as they are starting to ripen up. There’s quite a few of them.blueberry

My red roses are putting on a nice show too.roses

I took it easy the rest of the day and mostly chair hopped around the yard.

Peeps shipping soon

Our peeps are supposed to be shipped tomorrow so we should be in the chicks in a couple more days.

That was it for me today for a nice easy day.

Cold Kicks My Butt and I Get a Water Faucet For the Chicken Coop

Saturday June 9, 2018 Guerneville CA.

Kicked in the butt by my cold

Yesterday I went to the shopping area about a half hour drive to Santa Rosa to get some supplies.

I was feeling poorly and my reading glasses were hurting my eyes when I wore them.

Good thing I had a list that I could check off as I found things or I likely wouldn’t have gotten most of it as my mind was out of it as the cold I had seemed to be kicking in again.

I made it home and unloaded the van in a daze not feeling very well. My head was feeling all stopped up and I felt so tired out I just couldn’t function well.

So I went o bed real early around 8 and that was my day.

Another day

Today I wasn’t feeling much better when I got up so I took my time and sat around until I felt well enough to do some things.

Water for the coop

I cut the 4×4 for a new water faucet for my chicken coop area once I rounded up enough tools for the job.sawing

It took a long time and some breaks and a nap but I finally got the water hooked up.water

That pretty much did me in

That was it for me today as far as real work goes. I did do a little bit of digging in the garden.

Mighty hunter

While I was sitting there taking a break this robin flies in and starts collecting worms. It would find one and  peck it until it was dead and put them in a pile.worms

It took a while for it to get them all in it’s beak. robin

Lively potato bug

Just as it got them all in there, it spied a potato bug so dropped them all and went after it and got it.

It had to peck the potato bug to kill it then it started trying to get all the worms back in it’s beak. I think it did get them all and then flew away to it’s nest I think as there was way too much food for just it to eat.

A full beak

Here it is with the potato bug and worms in it’s beak ready to fly to the nest.bird

I just sat around and chair hopped for the rest of the day and that was it for me.
