Forest ride

Barry showed up today. He wanted to go for a bike ride up in the forest.

But first we had to pick some apples.

There is a good crop of apples this year, enough for us and the squirrels too.

We rode around the hills and then made our way up to our resting area at the top of the ridge for a break.

It was a bit cloudy today, making it a bit on the cool side.

Little tree

Back on the trail, we ran into this small downed tree across the road. I got the little hand saw out and started to cut it but the saw got bound up so Barry had to lift up on the tree to unbind the saw so I could finish the cut and remove the tree from the road.

Shortly after that Barry realized his bike’s rear tire was going flat, so we had to head for home.

We got the jack out and got the bike up in the air to get it off the bike.

Barry was having some trouble getting the tire off so Tom assisted him a bit.

The tire is off and ready to go to the shop to get it fixed.

Barry took off and I went on in the house for a nap.

My beef

My beef weighted in at 780 pounds. At 6.50 a pound, it cost me 5,050 bucks and I figure it will cost around 1500 dollars to butcher it and wrap it up. So that’s around 10 dollars a pound for grass fed beef.

I tried to make arrangements to pay the rancher today, but he didn’t answer his phone.

His ranch is at Jenner which I’d decided to go for ride down around the place when I went down to pay up.

I decided to go for the ride, just the same and try to call the rancher from there, if possible.

I drove on down to the Jenner area and tried my phone, but no matter where I tried the phone, there was no cell phone service. So, paying my bill was out.
