Plans change

I was in the process of moving these cement blocks to another spot I needed them. I got one load done and during the loading of the next load, my back gave me a warning with a sharp pain.

Ride in the forest

I was a bit hunched over and was headed to get a cold pack on my back when my brother Barry pulled in with his truck and dirt bike. I said, give me a half hour on the cold pack and I’ll be ready to go.

I got the cold pack and we shot the bull for awhile before taking off. My back felt fine for now.

Apples

Barry wanted to stop at my brother Tom’s garden to see if there were any tasty apple’s left on the trees. There were some so I filled my pockets.

Lots of chickens

We went by his chickens. He has a lot more of them than I do as he sells eggs at the farmer’s markets.

Up this trail

Now that we had a snack for later we headed on up this trail and rode around for some time.

We occasionally had to stop and get stuff off the road so we could pass by.

I was throwing rocks off the road when Barry caught up with me.

Barry had some clippers so trimmed some branches that would hit us in the head at several locations.

Break time

We made it up to the top of the mountain where we take a break for a good spell just enjoying the day.

Crashed

Eventually we took off and rode around some more. I hit a big old dead tree knot laying in the road and my back tire spun out causing the bike to go sideways on this road so I fell down. I’m usually going pretty slow when the bike falls over.This one was soft dirt so getting the bike back up was the worse part of this one.

We headed for home and Barry took off for his house and I did some chair hopping around the yard.

Crab for dinner

Later my brother Tom gave me five crab to eat. They should last me several days. Here’s three of them, cooked and ready to go.

Friday November 11, 2022 Jenner CA.

Paddle day

I haven’t been on a paddle for quite some time now, so today was the day to get er done.

Around noon, I headed for Jenner, down by the ocean where the river runs into the ocean.

I got the boat in the water and the car parked and then got in my boat and paddled across the river to Penny Island and stopped here for a bit before continuing on down along the island’s edge.

The estuary water was extra high today indicating the river’s mouth was closed, dammed up with sand so the river water couldn’t get into the ocean which made the estuary like a big lake.

Penny Island flooded

That meant a good part of the island was flooded so I took advantage of that and paddled on into the island and sat around there for a bit checking things out and enjoying the nice day.

I watched this great blue heron getting some sun.

Big Old Redwood log

I could see something moving on the top of the big redwood log up ahead.

I paddled over closer to see what it was.

Some blackbirds where getting some sun on the log.

Birds up ahead

After a good while on the water on the island I paddled off it and headed down towards the ocean. Lots of birds up ahead taking a bath and preening in the fresh water of the river.
