Shopping day
I needed to take my tax stuff in to the tax guy today, so I did some shopping and dropped my taxes off which took most of the day.
Going for a ride
I got that done and was home in time to go for a ride. I headed up into the state park and drove on over to the maintenance shops, but I got there too early and the guys were still out working somewhere.
I decided to go up and check out the old dirt road to see how it was holding up, going up this road in the park.
Big bad root
As I drove around a corner I found two state park guys working on cutting this big redwood root back so the road would be a bit wider for big trucks. They’d tried to cut it the other day, but they ran into some rocks in the root, that made the job a hard one as it dulled their saws quickly.
They had made some progress from the other day, but still, they were having a hard time cutting a chunk off.
That smoke is from hitting some more rocks as he tried to weddle it down.
They were determined and said they’d keep working on it and win. I left them at it and drove on up the road.
Old dirt road
The dirt road has some muddy spots that are slowly drying out. I need to put some more rock on these parts and out slope the road more so the water has a better chance of running off it, instead of down it.
This is another spot where springs are running out onto the road. I need more rock on this too and more slope. As the road dries out, the traffic on it will pack this in good.
I got the shovel out and worked on getting the water to cross the road and not run down it, in this spot. I need to work on this crossing to improve it.
I made it to the top and then headed for home and ran into my cousin and her husband and their two dogs out on a walk, so I stopped to shoot the bull with them for a bit then headed on home.
