Van’s Engine Overheats On the Way Home

Headed home

Marty and I left for home on the last lag of our journey this morning. When we got to Marysville, I noticed my van’s engine was starting to overheat a little, so I was watching it.

Game refuse

We made it to the Colusa game refuse where we usually stop for a break and I got the tools out to see if I could find out why the engine was overheating.vans

Bad fuse holders

After messing around with things, I discovered two fuse holders on my electric fans were melting from bad connections in them. I replaced one of them and thought the other one was ok, but I was wrong and it bit me later.

Heating up going up long hills

We continued on and when I drove up a long hill, the engine’s temperature climbed until I had to pull over to let the engine cool down to continue. We did that a few times before I found the second fuse holder was bad, so I fixed that, but it didn’t fix the overheating problem.

Not fixed

We changed to roads that didn’t have so many steep hills for the rest of the way home. That worked, but I still have the overheating problem. Maybe a bad thermostat? I’ll have to check things out now that I’m home and it’s easier to work on.

A few hours drive home took all day with the heating problem going on.

Great trip

We had a great trip exploring the forest in the area we were in.

Once home, I started pulling the stuff I needed right away, out of my van, like the coffee maker.

I let the chickens out. They didn’t seem too glad to see me. :O)chickens

Nice day, despite the heating problem. I’m home.
