Shop day day for supplies
We got a break in the rains today so I thought I better do some shopping to get supplies so I can continue my projects.
I went to this hardware store. I like their drive up yard to get stuff. Just put it in the car and checkout.
Welded wire is what I needed
I needed a roll of 72, inch high with 2×4 inch holes. I like the welded stuff as it almost stands up by itself so it’s easier to use or take it down and move it if I need to later.
I also got some hardware to make a new gate and fix the leaky sink drains in my kitchen sink.
Cutting up the fence wire
Once I got home I decided to get with it on the fence wire as it’s going to rain some more soon. I measured out where I want to install it and cut it to length.
Gate works now
I put some wire around this gate that wasn’t working to keep them out of the raspberry patch when I want to. They’ve been grazing in it for quite some time now and really have it torn up, so it would be good to keep them out of it for a bit to let the weeds grow out so there will be more food for the chickens later.
Need another gate
I also installed this piece of new fencing. I will put a gate in here when I get it made but I wanted to block it for now as I plan to let the chickens out into this pen more often.
Tom says let em out in the rain
My brother Tom says I should of let the chickens out into the rain to eat worms as the worms come to the surface when it rains. The chickens seem to do ok in the rain so that sounds like a good idea so this new gate will keep them in this area when it’s raining and I’m in the house not watching out for them. There’s not a lot of mischief they can get into in this pen so I don’t have to keep an eye on them so much.
I finished up what I wanted to do just about the time it started to get dark so that was it for me today.
Nice day.
Sounds like a great idea to me about letting the chickens out in the rain. Things you don’t think about normally. They’ll love the worms!
You had a good day between rain showers.
