Rain, Chickens and Trail Work/Exercise

Sunday October 22, 2023 Guerneville CA.

Raining

It was raining today when I got it going, so I thought it would be a good day to go shopping at the shopping centers as I thought it was Monday.

It wasn’t long before I realized it was Sunday and I try not to go to places like that when all the working people are out, so that got canceled.

Chickens

I drove over to let my brothers chickens out when the rain mostly let up, mostly, as it was spitting lightly on and off.chickens1

Golf cart

I had the golf cart to do the chickens, so I drove it up to work on the trail and get some exercise and parked here. The trail is off to the left. Rain drops continued to fall off the trees, rain or not, as the trees were all wet.cart2

Trail work

This narrow part of the trail needs to be widened out a bit, so I worked on doing that.trail3

I got this far when I needed a break, so I occupied my chair for awhile.trail4

I got that done, but when I looked at it, I could see some of it needed more widening.trail5

This part with the big fern needs a bit of widening. I moved the big fern to another spot to get it out of the way, then started removing the dirt and spread it out on the trail.fern6

That’s better.trail7

And I noticed the part in front of my chair needed a bit removed so I did that.trail8

About three hours of work. That’s enough exercise for one day, more than enough.trail9

I’ve got the worst parts of the trail widened out now, but still have some easier parts to take care of, but not today.

Nice day.

There you are … your blog is back. You certainly make a difference in those trails. I just love those moss covered trees. It’s a beautiful place you live in.

Well, I went to look up trail blazer and the computer really had to think about that one. Could be it’s one word that it took a minute. I did come up with this though:

“The difference between pioneer and trailblazer is that pioneer is someone who goes before, as into the wilderness, preparing the way for others to follow while trailblazer is someone who blazes a trail to the unknown. The word pioneer comes from the Latin pioneeris, which means “to go before” or “be the first to do something.” It is also used as a noun to describe a person who is a pioneer.” So which are you? Sounds like both.
Although your trails end up in the “known”.

Your work makes me want to come out there to hike all around in your forest & get good drinks of fresh spring water. Enjoy your day, Pioneer/Trailblazer Bob!
