Bike ride
Barry showed up for a ride up into the forest this morning. With all the rain we had yesterday, the ground should be real nice for riding and the dust should be down.
We rode around and stopped to take a look at the Guerneville Overlook.
After some more riding, we headed for our break area at the top.
After a good break, we took off and rode around until we were worn out.
On the way home, we stopped at the special hole I dug the other day to make sure it would work for it’s purpose.
Looking for blue clay
Then we looked for some more blue clay in the nearby creek as Barry was looking for some. We didn’t find any clay but had a nice look around.
We are headed back to where our bikes are parked just up ahead along the creek.
We made it home and Barry took off for his place and I went in for a nap.
No mowing today
I was planning to do some weed mowing as Tom left his mower in my front yard, but I just couldn’t get into it.
Instead, I cut up a slab of ribeye’s I’d bought last week. I’d never done this before, but turned out to be pretty easy.
Ribeye’s
It didn’t take long to get the slab cut into steaks. I got about twelve steaks out of the slab. Barry was wondering if the steaks would be well marbled as it’s hard to tell when it’s in slab form. What I discovered is the marble is different in different parts of the slap, so you end up with a mixture. Some steaks have more marble than others. All the slab was usable with no waste which was good as this stuff is rather expensive.
Marbling
I packaged up most of the steaks, some for freezing and some for the fridge and I held out the end pieces to cook for dinner.
A little butter on them after cooking. I ate my fell and put the rest in the fridge for snacking. They were nice and tender and tasty too.
The rest of the day I spent chair hopping around the yard, ignoring that lawn mower.
Nice day.
Hope you’re proud of yourself. Those steaks made my mouth water. And I’ve already had supper.
