Nice paddle
I checked on the chickens and gave them some food and water and then I drove on down to Jenner to kayak for the day.
The sun was out and the wind was down for a real nice fall day at the river.
I put the boat in the water and paddled across the river to the island and decided to paddle on down to the ocean at the river’s mouth going along the edge of the island.
I’m headed to the ocean down there not far ahead.
River’s mouth area
There’s always lots of critters around the mouth area, looking out the river’s mouth into the ocean.
I pulled into this spot by the mouth and sat and watched the happenings.
I moved up a bit closer to the critters.
Seals
The harbor seals were keeping an eye on me.
Lots of birds resting on the shore by the mouth.
And a seal or two swimming around in the water.
Nice eh
I hung around checking things out for about an hour then turned and started back up the river along here.
I paddled up along the edge of Penny Island taking my time.
I was sitting on the upper end of the island when I saw this great blue heron dip it’s bill and come up with these weeds. It seemed there must be a fish or something in them as the bird was messing with it like it was trying to extract something from it.
From there I made my way back to the boat ramp and went on home for a nap.
Doing some fire protection work
After a good rest I got the wheelbarrow out and continued moving the redwood leaves I blew off the roof to the garden. Doing some fire protection and gardening at the same time. I hauled several loads and raked up some more leaves before I was done.
Prepping the grow pen
I had another rest and a cup of coffee then went out and moved some more woodchips to this grow pen I want to plant soon once I give the chickens some more time to tear it up for me.
It was getting dark as I finished moving the chips so I did some chair hopping as it was warm and nice out. When it got dark I went in for the day.
Nice day, eh.
