Critter protection
There’s been a coon with her little ones coming into the yard at night lately so I thought I better get the rest of the chicken pen critter protection done.
I needed to dig under this wire and then bend it down straight and then fill the ditch up with dirt.
This keeps the critters from digging under the fence and eating my chickens.
Trying not to work too hard
I dug about twenty feet of ditch and moved the dirt to another place I needed it.
It was hard work so I took it easy and worked on it on and off all day. I didn’t get it buried back up yet as I was trying to take it easy. Not so easy when moving dirt.
Resting up for a night paddle
I was also taking it easy as I wanted to be rested enough to go on down to Jenner to see if I could see any lumens tonight.
I left the house just before dark and it got darker as I drove on down to Jenner just before 8.
The sun had just gone down at Jenner.
I put my boat in the water and crossed over to Penny Island.
Lumens
I was taking my time as it needed to get a bit darker to see any lumens. Lumens being photo phosphorous plankton that lives in sea water and comes into the river with the high tide which it was at this time.
I started a slow paddle up the river as it got darker. Lots of lumens in the water tonight. Anything that moves in the water causes them to light up. No photos of that though.
Fish jumping
I could hear quite a bunch of fish jumping out of the water as I went along in the dark. Once I had a big splash behind me which I assume was a harbor seal.
I got my light out to see if I could see what the jumping fish might be. I couldn’t see them, but my light caught some eyes up the river a bit on the shoreline so I paddled over to have a look.
Coon hunting
Turned out to be a raccoon hunting along the river’s banks.
No injured sea lion
I paddled up to Eagle’s Landing and looked to see if that injured sea lion was on the rocks or not. It wasn’t there. I paddled just a short ways up further and then headed back in for the night.
Jenner at night
This is what Jenner looked like from out in the river as I paddled along headed back to the boat ramp.
When I hit the ramp I looked at my watch and it was almost 10. I put the boat on the car and went on home for the night and that was it for me today.
Nice day.
