Note: I’m working on moving my site to a better spot and it might be down for a bit before it gets fixed.

Blog data upload

I started to upload my blogs data to it’s new site last night and it was still uploading when  I went to bed.

This morning, when I checked the process, the upload was completed successfully.

Now I  have to get the guys to fix the site up and get it working and the transfer will be complete if they can get it to work properly.

Once it’s working right, I will transfer over to the new blog host. I hope that all works out.

Ball hitch

Tom broke his trailer hitch the other day while pulling a neighbor’s tractor out of a hole with his tractor.  I welded it up for him the first thing this morning. It was hot when I was done welding it so I left it to cool and will come back to it and do a bit of grinding to finish it off. I forgot about it and didn’t get back to it today.

 

Forest work

I gassed up the chainsaw and loaded it on my quad runner and headed up into the hills to cut some trees off the road.

On the way to the trees I knew about, I ran into this little one and cut it up and got it out of the way.

 

These are the trees I was heading for. I cut them into smaller pieces and cleared the road.

 

From there I headed on up to our break area at the top of the hill for a break. Mostly blue sky today, looking south.

 

After a break I headed down the road a short distance to walk through the forest to see about connecting an old trail up.

 

I stopped in this spot for a break by this big old redwood log.

 

I wasn’t able to hook that trail up as it was too steep where I came out on the old trail. I’ll have to look some more to see if I can get it hooked up without being too steep.

I headed down the hill on this road.

 

And stopped here to move these limbs off the road. The redwood leaves look good on the ground in this spot.

 

I made my way over to this overlook spot for a break.

 

I sat in this chair for a good while just enjoying the day.

 

The blue sky was the view from that spot. The sun just went behind the hill on the right.

 

Eventually I headed on down this trail and stopped  here to cut a log off the trail.

 

It was starting to get a bit dark as I stopped here to cut this stump down on another trail.

 

Once that stump was cut, I moved the log off the trail and headed for home before it got too dark.

New camera setup

I setup my newest camera today, after the rain stopped. This is a Reolink E1 outdoor camera, about a hundred bucks. It runs on 110volts and is either wireless or can be wired with a network cable. Wireless is the easiest if you have a wireless router to make it work.

It’s hooked to my  computer but can also be hooked to a phone with their app.

 

The app

This is their app on my computer. This is the live view. I have three of these cameras now, the three things on the left.

 

Playback view

The camera has motion detection and will record when motion is detected which can be viewed on the computer or the phone using their app. All the recorded stuff is stored on a micro card on the camera that you buy extra and install.

 

Moving my blog site to a new host

I spent a good deal of the day trying to set up a new host for my website as the old guys can’t support it when things go wrong, but the new site guys can. My site is 18 gigs so it takes a long time to upload it. I’ve tried several times so far but always ran into some error.

I contacted their support and I think I can get it done now, after I read a much of stuff on how to do it.

 

Once I get all the files up to the new site, I’ll need to get them to fix it up which they are supposed to be able to do. All my pictures do not show up on old posts, but I think I have a copy of them so I hope they can put it all back together. My site got broken when it tried to do an automatic update of the Word Press software that runs my site. The update failed and thins went south from there.

At least with all the rain we had today, it was a good time to work on this as it needs to get done.

Time to get back to learning how to do this.
